Services & Maintenance Plans
At BASi®, we strive to produce the most reliable instruments on the market. Our track record is a testament to this. When you purchase a BASi® instrument, you are investing in this reliability. However, as with most things, problems do occasionally occur. Preserve your investment and your peace of mind by purchasing a Maintenance Protection Plan. Even if your instrument never needs servicing, Protection Plan coverage entitles you to a variety of consumable accessories and services at no additional charge during the term of coverage. If you have inherited a BASi® instrument, or if you've been gambling for a year or so after your warranty has expired, you can still sign up for maintenance protection. We do require an inspection (for a fee) of any instrument no longer under warranty or under an extended warranty plan.
It is not unusual for our customers to use our products 10 years or longer, especially when the instruments are well maintained. Eventually, you may decide to expand the capabilities of your laboratory or replace your faithful old instruments. Please contact us for a new quotation. In some cases we'll even offer a trade-in allowance.
Culex® On-Site Service and Maintenance (OSSM) Protection Plan
An On-Site Service Plan is available for the BASi Culex® Automated Sampling System, including the Raturn, Controller and Collector.
The OSSM is good for one year from the date of the purchase (with multi-year options available). The plan covers the electronic equipment, including Culex controllers and collectors, balance arm, Raturn system, but not including the computer. Under this plan, malfunctioning equipment will be replaced using overnight shipping. All shipping costs will be at BASi’s expense. At the end of each year of the contract, our experienced service technicians some on-site to perform maintenance on the instrument, which includes checking, updating, repairing, or replacing worn parts if necessary, and updating with the latest software. All software upgrades are free when a client is under the agreement, and clients under maintenance contract are considered preferred customers. They get priority when ordering supplies, parts, etc, and we may extend special offers to them on newly released hardware that is not covered under the official agreement.
The OSSM is different from and expands on the initial warranty. Many customers with new Culex instruments choose to buy an OSSM immediately, in addition to the warranty that is standard with every instrument, while others wait until the warranty has expired. Please consult the BASi® Terms of Sale, or your BASi® sales representative, if you are not familiar with the warranty period for your instrument.
Think of this optional plan as an insurance policy. Without this plan, you will still be eligible for standard warranty service, should this be required. But remember that with warranty service, the user is responsible for shipping any BASi Culex ® component in need of warranty repair to the service department located in West Lafayette, Indiana, and the timelines can be several weeks, depending on how quickly the issue can be observed and fixed.
Pricing of these contracts varies by your system configuration. The cost of the On-Site Service and Maintenance Protection Plan is most advantageous when purchased with a new instrument. Instruments which are out of warranty must be inspected by BASi® at your facility, prior to being registered for an extended warranty. There is a fee for this inspection covering time and travel.
EC Maintenance Protection Plan
An EC Maintenance Protection Plan is available for a complete electrochemical or voltammetric analyzer, or individual electroanalytical instruments including potentiostats, cells, controllers, etc. This extends the one year warranty that normally applies to these instruments. The cost of this plan is most advantageous when purchased with a new instrument. Instruments which are out of warranty must be inspected by BASi®, for at least the cost of the estimate fee, prior to being registered for an extended warranty.

Pricing of these contracts is normally 10% of the current list price for the instrument(s) to be covered. Since the prices may increase, it is most economical to obtain coverage at the time of initial purchase. There is a minimum fee of $1,000.00 (USA dollars) for a Maintenance Protection Plan covering Electrochemical Instruments.
MD Maintenance Protection Plan
An MD Maintenance Protection Plan is available for a complete BASi® microdialysis system, or individual instruments including the BASi® Honeycomb Fraction Collector, Pollen-8 Online Injector, and Raturn System for Awake Animals. The cost of an extended warranty is more advantageous when this option is purchased with a new instrument. Instruments which are out of warranty must be inspected by BASi®, for at least the cost of the estimate fee, prior to being registered for an extended warranty.
