Neuroscience

BASi® has several techniques to monitor Central Nervous System activity including microdialysis, total tissue concentration and behavior studies. Whether you are looking for neurotransmitter release, blood-brain barrier information or behavioral effects of your compounds, we can meet your needs.

Study designs can be highly variable with multiple dosing days and dosing routes available. Samples can be collected at any time of the day or night. Microdialysis can be combined with blood sampling or behavioral collection.

Sample analysis is available in our GLP laboratories for test compounds, metabolites, neurotransmitters, hormones and more. In some cases, related compounds can be co-processed while maintaining sample integrity. Multi-parameter assays are also possible for some neurotransmitters.

Study Examples:

  • Neurotransmitter release
  • Blood-Brain Barrier Penetration
  • Total Tissue Concentrations
  • Behavior

Neurotransmitter Release

  • Technique available in rat or mouse
  • Brain tissue targets as small as 1mm3
  • Transmitters include norepinephrine, dopamine, serotonin, Ach, GABA, glutamate, aspartate, and others (please inquire).
  • Multiple dosing routes available, including direct target administration via infusion or reverse dialysis.

Blood Brain Barrier Penetration

  • Technique available in rat or mouse
  • Brain tissue targets as small as 1mm3
  • Choose multiple targets for microdialysis probes, or pair microdialysis sampling with systemic blood collections

Total Tissue Concentration

  • Tissue collection to obtain data for a larger target at a specific timepoint, not subject to the constraints of membrane/compound interactions.
  • Technique available in rat or mouse.
  • Choose whole brain, specific brain locations, or other tissues.
  • Terminal blood collection can be added.
