BASi®

Cerebral OFM (cOFM) is a sampling technique for collection of small, large and lipophilic molecules from brain interstitial fluid (ISF).

Follow the steps below to learn more and configure your system.

For best results, BASi recommends using the OFM pump. The pump has two pump heads which can be individually controlled. Each pump head can connect up to three separate probes. I’d like to use this purpose built pump for my OFM study.

I already have a pump with push-pull capabilities.

When working with the OFM pump, using the OFM bag is highly recommended. The OFM bag was designed to work with the OFM pump, but can be used as a reservoir with other pumps.

I am not using the OFM pump and would like to discuss alternative solutions with a BASi representative.

cOFM probes are packaged as three individual kits. Each kit includes one sampling insert, guide, dummy and locking wedge (x2). Available sizes include:

6-1, 6mm shaft, 1mm sampling
6-2, 6mm shaft, 2mm sampling
8-1, 6mm shaft, 1mm sampling
8-2, 6mm shaft, 2mm sampling

My application requires a custom length probe. Please note that sampling areas are available as either 1mm or 2mm and shaft lengths cannot exceed 20mm.

When using the OFM pump, the best tubing option is the Combined Push Pull Low Bind Tubing. This tubing set includes low bind push, pull and pump head tubing.

Using BASi’s Raturn™ system as part of your OFM study helps to minimize dead volume and reduce sticking. Raturn™ instruments provide an added benefit of easily adding a second probe, an electrical or optic cable or another fluid line for dosing or sampling. As an alternative to the Raturn™, swivels can be used for studies using a single probe. For more information about a swivel click here. Check the box below if you prefer to use a swivel-based system.
